Rediscovering Legacy: Transforming Historic Cornwall Barns into a Modern Family Haven
Nestled in the heart of mid Cornwall, our focus turns to a trio of barns that have stood dormant since the 1980s. Owned by a mother and her three children, these barns hold a history waiting to be revitalized.

Comprising an old long stone barn, a quaint stone structure, and a spacious metal barn, they cocoon a picturesque courtyard. Our vision transforms this ensemble into a contemporary courtyard barn conversion, harmonizing history with modern living.
Initially, a Part Q application for planning set the wheels in motion, but a twist in history required an additional application. These barns had, at one point in the '70s, been transformed into a mechanical repair shop, necessitating a nuanced approach.
Challenges abound, each more intriguing than the last. Access via a narrow track demands strategic finesse. A protected bat species calls this place home, necessitating meticulous mitigation efforts and the creation of a designated bat habitat.

Structural integrity takes the spotlight too, as these barns journey toward Part Q compliance. Through comprehensive structural surveys, we're ensuring that each beam and column aligns with contemporary expectations.
What's on the horizon? A one-of-a-kind, adaptable multi-generational family haven. This project isn't just about bricks and mortar; it's about creating a space where generations blend seamlessly under one roof.
With planning consent secured, the countdown to groundbreaking has begun. Soon, these barns will transform into a harmonious symphony of past and present, an architectural ode to legacy and modernity.
